1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the ProxyX Browser iOS application ("ProxyX," "we," "our," or "the app") handles information when you use it. By installing or using ProxyX Browser, you agree to the practices described here.
This policy applies only to the ProxyX Browser iOS app. It does not apply to third-party websites you visit through the app, those sites have their own privacy policies governing their data practices.
2. Data we collect
ProxyX Browser does not have user accounts, sign-up flows, or first-party analytics dashboards. We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or other contact information
- Your browsing history, bookmarks, or saved tabs (these stay on your device)
- The contents of search queries you type
- Your precise location
- Your contacts, calendar, photos, or other personal data outside the app
However, because ProxyX is a proxy browser and uses some third-party services to function (advertising, search providers, ad-block list updates), certain data is necessarily transmitted to servers. The next sections explain what.
3. Proxy routing
ProxyX is a proxy browser. When proxy mode is enabled (the default), web requests you make inside the browser are routed through proxy servers operated by us. This is the same overall pattern used by VPN apps and corporate proxies.
3.1 What the proxy servers see
To deliver traffic, the proxy servers necessarily process:
- The destination address (hostname or IP) of websites you visit
- Approximate timing and size of your requests
- Your device's IP address (required so responses can be returned to you)
Because ProxyX uses HTTPS end-to-end, the proxy servers cannot read the contents of HTTPS pages, form submissions, passwords, or messages you send, only the destination being contacted.
3.2 Logging
We do not maintain marketing or behavioral analytics logs of proxy traffic. Operational logs may be kept for a short period to monitor service health, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations, then automatically discarded.
4. Third-party services
ProxyX Browser relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how it handles data:
4.1 Search suggestions
When search suggestions are enabled (default ON, toggleable in Settings), what you type in the URL bar is sent to your selected search provider's autocomplete service so it can return suggestions. You can turn this off in Settings → Search → Search suggestions, after which what you type stays on your device until you submit a search.
4.2 Search engines
When you submit a search (Google, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Bing, or a custom engine), the query is sent to your chosen provider. The provider's privacy policy governs that query.
4.3 Ad-block list providers
The ad blocker downloads publicly available host lists from well-known providers to keep its rules up to date. The provider sees a standard HTTPS download request from your IP address when this happens, no identifying information beyond that is sent.
4.4 Websites you visit
Any website loaded inside ProxyX may set cookies, run JavaScript, or otherwise process information about your visit. This is the same behavior as in Safari or any other browser. We recommend keeping the built-in ad blocker enabled.
5. Advertising
ProxyX shows an interstitial advertisement once per app launch, between the splash screen and the home screen. These ads are served by Google AdMob.
To deliver and measure ads, AdMob collects certain information:
- Your device's advertising identifier, if you have allowed it via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt
- IP address, device model, operating system version, and language
- General ad performance metrics (whether an ad was shown, clicked, etc.)
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (not GPS)
AdMob's handling of this data is governed by the Google Ads & AdMob Privacy Policy. You can limit ad tracking by denying the App Tracking Transparency prompt or by turning off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
We do not show banner ads, do not show ads inside web pages, and do not share your browsing history with AdMob.
6. Data stored on your device
ProxyX stores the following information locally on your device only. None of it is uploaded to our servers.
- Bookmarks, page title, URL, date saved
- History, page title, URL, date visited
- Downloads, file name, source URL, size, and where the file is stored on your device
- App preferences, your chosen settings (theme, ad blocker, default search engine, search-suggestions toggle, and similar)
6.1 Passcode
If you enable the optional Require passcode feature, only a one-way cryptographic representation of your passcode is stored, using Apple's secure on-device storage. The passcode itself is never stored in readable form and is bound to your device.
6.2 Website storage
Like every browser, ProxyX renders pages using Apple's WebKit engine, which stores cookies and cached page assets on your device. This data is sandboxed to the app and can be cleared from inside the app or from iOS Settings → ProxyX Browser.
6.3 Private tabs
When you use a private tab, no history, cookies, or cache is saved. Closing the private tab discards the session.
7. Permissions we request
ProxyX may request the following iOS permissions, depending on what you do in the app:
- Photo Library (Add only), to save images you download from web pages to your Photos library. The app cannot read existing photos.
- Motion & Fitness, required by the advertising SDK for certain ad-interaction measurement. The data is used by the ad provider, not by us.
- Background Audio, so audio and video continue playing when you lock the device or switch apps.
- Camera, microphone, location, only if a website you visit asks for them and you grant permission through the prompt. ProxyX itself does not request these.
- Face ID / Touch ID, only if you enable passcode protection and opt into biometric unlock.
- App Tracking Transparency, to allow personalised ads. You can decline.
All of these permissions can be revoked at any time from iOS Settings → ProxyX Browser.
8. Downloads and file storage
Files you download through ProxyX are stored in the app's local storage on your device. Information about each download (file name, source URL, size) is kept in the on-device app database so you can see your download list. Downloaded files are not uploaded anywhere by ProxyX.
9. Cookies and website data
ProxyX itself does not use cookies. Websites you load inside ProxyX may set cookies in on-device storage. You can clear all website data from inside the app or from iOS Settings. Private tabs do not retain cookies after closing.
10. Children's privacy
ProxyX Browser is not directed at children under the age of 13. The advertising network may not be appropriate for children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used ProxyX in a way that concerns you, please contact us.
11. Data retention
Server-side: we do not maintain long-term user-identified profiles because we do not have user accounts. Operational logs are kept only as long as needed for service health, abuse prevention, and legal obligations, then discarded.
On your device: data stays on your device until you delete it (clear history, remove downloads) or uninstall the app, which deletes all app data.
12. Your rights
Because ProxyX does not collect personal information that identifies you, most data-subject rights under laws like GDPR and CCPA (access, deletion, portability, correction) are satisfied automatically, the data the policy covers either does not exist in identified form or lives only on your own device, which you fully control.
For data handled by Google AdMob, you can exercise rights directly with Google through their privacy controls.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, in applicable laws, or in our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of ProxyX after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
